New Vegas Melee Mod
May 23, 2017 Basically, any mods that generally improve melee combat and its animations? Come on we all have to admit how clunky that ♥♥♥♥ can be. Is there a mod that makes using melee weapons cool? Change the Melee Combat Animations. posted in New Vegas Mod Requests: I've been browsing both Fallout 3 nexus and Fallout New Vegas nexus for a while now and have noticed something that has troubled me greatly. There are no melee combat animation re-placers for Fallout 3 or for Fallout new Vegas. I should note, i remember people saying melee was actually op in vanilla but since im using damage increasing and no hp increase/lvl mods, melee/unarmed really needs the boost. I remember seeing a discussion about shields. It wasnt optimistic.

---|
- Damage: This information comes straight from the G.E.C.K. and shows the damage caused by a single click of the mouse/trigger. For most small guns, that's a single bullet, but for shotguns, it's a single shell (containing several small pellets), and for the Gatling laser it's a single beam. This stat is most useful for comparing semi-automatic weapons like rifles, where you can see the full damage caused by a single shot, regardless of how long it takes to load and fire the next one. |
- Damage per second: The maximum cyclic damage dealt in one second, expressed as rate of fire times damage. Weapons that require a reload every shot have damage per second shown including reload times, all others show sustained rates without reloads. |
- Rate of fire: The maximum cyclic number of shots/attacks per second, without considering reloading. |
- Spread: This is the Min Spread stat from the G.E.C.K. (the Spread stat is not used). It refers to the accuracy of a ranged weapon. 0 means the weapon can potentially fire perfectly straight, if stance, weapon skill, and weapon condition are optimal. Anything above 0 means the shots may deviate from the center by that many degrees regardless of stance, skill, or condition. |
- Critical chance multiplier: The multiplier applied to your character's critical hit chance. This modifier applies to each individual attack you make (e.g. each 5mm round bullet fired from your minigun). For example, if your character has a critical hit chance of 5%, and the weapon you're using has a CRIT % MULT of x2, then each shot has a 5% x 2 =10% chance to critically hit. For automatic weapons (assault rifles, SMGs, miniguns, etc.) the Crit % Mult stat in the G.E.C.K. is divided by the G.E.C.K.'s Fire Rate stat, hence the very small multiplier for automatic weapons. This is done to compensate for the sheer number of bullets being fired. Note that single V.A.T.S. attack, with automatic weapons, only checks for critical hit once, applying damage bonus for all bullets in such attack if critical hit is done. |
- Critical hit Damage: The amount of damage that is added when you score a critical strike. The more specialized Sneak Attack Critical deals twice the damage of a common critical strike. |
- Action Point cost: The number of Action Points used per shot in V.A.T.S. |
- Area of effect: The blast radius of the explosion in units of measurement displayed in the G.E.C.K. |
- Durability: This is the maximum number of times a weapon can attack/fire from full health before completely breaking. |
- Ammunition used: The type of ammunition the weapon uses. |
- Magazine capacity: The maximum ammunition capacity of the weapon. Shots per reload: The maximum number of shots possible from a full magazine. |
- Weapon weight: Weight value of the weapon that applies to encumbrance. |
- Weapon value in caps: Base value of the weapon in caps. Resale value is affected by Barter skill. |
- Value to weight ratio: The ratio of the base weapon value in caps to the weapon weight. |
- Skill required: The weapon skill and skill level required to use the weapon without penalty. |
- Strength required: The Strength required to use the weapon without penalty. |

- PCPlaystation 3Xbox 360 Scoped guns will occasionally display a blank 'computer terminal' screen instead of the scope. This bug completely blocks the weapon's view when using the 'scope'. Fix for this bug for the Xbox360 is clearing your systems cache and reloading the game. It eventually 'goes away' on its own, or by restarting the console, but the cause for start/end is not yet determined. This also makes it hard to use a terminal since no screen or text appears unless you have the weapon out. This can also be similar when Lockpicking as the tumbler may disappear, although it is not impossible to still attempt to pick the lock, depending on the difficulty.[verified]
- Xbox 360 Can be fixed by making a new save and restarting the console.
- PCXbox 360 Occasionally weapons dropped by the player will have the red 'Press A to steal x' marking as if the weapon was previously owned, regardless of whether or not it ever was owned by an NPC. This can be fixed by opening the console, clicking the weapon, and typing the 'setownership' command.[verified]
- PCXbox 360 With heavy energy weapons that use a backpack as an ammunition supply as well as the katana with a sheath, removing a weapon that has one will cause it to remain on your back. This happens with multiple backpacks, so they clip through each other. This can be corrected by equipping the weapon that caused this, then unequipping it.[verified]
- PCXbox 360 Sometimes when using melee weapons, you get blood splatter on the weapon and the blood refuses to come off of the weapon. You can fix this by leaving the game and coming back.[verified]
- PCXbox 360 Rarely the weapon models can become small.[verified]
- PC Sometimes, when you fire until you have no ammo left, the gun will still shake like it is shooting. It won't make a sound or inflict any damage.[verified]

8. Intrusive Invisible Wall Remover
One of the beautiful elements of the Fallout game world is that there, in theory, should be very few physical boundaries that players cannot overcome with creative thinking. Well, theory is not an accurate reflection of reality in this case, unless you install the Fallout New Vegas Intrusive Invisible Wall Remover. Nothing ruins immersion in the Mojave Wastland more than slamming face first into a piece of perfect glass the size of the Great Wall of China as you are on your way to New Vegas. 7. More Perks
One of the best gameplay ideas in Fallout New Vegas, perks, have been reverted back to becoming available every other level. While this makes choosing perks more difficult and important, it can also leave players disappointed with the lack of exciting options. More Perks adds inventive new perk ideas to the Fallout fold, such as perks that increase the chances of random negative events happening, such as bounty hunters appearing. 6. Civil Defense Radio
The elephant in the room of Fallout New Vegas is that wandering the desert wasteland can get very lonely, and very boring if there are no enemies in sight. Luckily, Civil Defense Radio makes wandering into the desert more attractive, as you will no longer want to kill yourself when Jingle-Jangle-Jango comes up for the eight millionth time. CDR adds in an entirely new radio station, over 2 hours of music and custom scripted PSAs and other announcements that fit in perfectly with the New Vegas mood. CDR is a must have for New Vegas fans playing on a first, second, or twentieth playthrough.
5. Lethal Headshots
Its basic FPS, not to mention real life, science…if you shoot someone in the head, they die. While Fallout New Vegas is technically an
RPG, it does not make sense than Johnny Nobody in New Vegas has a head made of Kevlar. That is why Lethal Headshots is one of the best mods for New Vegas; it actually makes combat more deadly without screwing up the balance of New Vegas. In fact, it is just as hard to hit people in the head, as Lethal Headshots makes the chances of a bullet screwing up a bandit's grey matter much lower in VATS. 4. Food and Drink Health Remover
'Oh god, my leg…I think its broken….oh wait, I have a Snickers bar!….Ah back to normal, thanks Mars Inc.!' The previous statement does not really make sense, aside from featuring my favorite candy bar. Food and drink doesn't heal you in real life, so why should in the Fallout New Vegas universe. For Hardcore mode players in New Vegas, there is nothing less hardcore than opening up your inventory and downing a couple of cans of Pork and Beans, and magically being at full health again. Thankfully, the Food and Drink Health Remover for Fallout New Vegas is the best mod for making Hardcore mode actually hardcore hard.
The Food and Drink Health Remover mod is relatively self-explanatory, but the effect it has on gameplay is immense. If you play New Vegas on Hardcore mode, you owe it to yourself to try this mod.
3. Companion Sandbox Mode
One of the more interesting gameplay mechanics in Fallout New Vegas is the interaction with companions like Boone. However, outside of a paltry few side conversations and a whole heaping of killing, companions basically act like your slave. Companion Sandbox mode fixes this problem, giving Boone, Ed-E and others a life of their own. At the very least, they relax when you are shopping, smke cigarettes, sit down and talk, and at most they take on their own ambitions, leaving your group for short periods of time.
