May 25, 2017 - How do I show some pictures from my phone to my Vizio smart TV? What happens is if a 4K TV detects an incoming 720p or 1080p signal,.

Hi!
I've got a Samsung LE23R7, and I'm just starting to wonder what it can really do. Thus... how can I tell if it can do 1080p/i or the like?
Thanks for any help.

Have a read of your manual or search on Samsung's website
edit: All 23' LCD's on the website are down as HD ready with a resolution of 1366x 768 and state HD ready, but but these are LE23R8's
    I can guarentee your tv's not 1080p.

I had a flick through the manual and all it can tell me is that the resolution is 1360 x 768 @ 60Hz.
But thanks. Is the difference between 720p and 1080p really that noticable? When I download HD trailers from my Xbox 360 and watch them they still look fantastic (I Am Legend especially, but now I digress...)

On a TV that small you probably won't see any difference at all, you really need 50'+ to take advantage of 1080p

My Panasonic is only 32' and according to the Richer Sounds website its 1080i only.
However , the input from the PS3 is set to 1080p and the tv clearly shows an info banner when the input changes - so when I switch Sky HD on it comes up with 1080i and when the PS3 is on its happy to display 1080p,although I cant see the difference in quality

If the de-interlacing is good then there isn't a huge difference when dealing with film sources between 1080i and 1080p but obviously any differences will become more apparent as you increase the screen sizes/resolution and actually process 1080p/24 as is compared to 1080i/50 or 1080i/60.

The Richer Sounds web site is incorrect. The TX-32LMD70/LXD70 are 1080p compatible, although the native resolution is 768p.

There is a lot of confusion about what displays will accept vs what they will display natively.
Many displays which are only 1360/1365/1366 x 768 will ACCEPT 1080p, but then downscale it to suite the native res of the panel. 1080i requires only 540 lines (per interlaced field) which are re-scaled upwards to 768.
Think about it logically, 1080p tells you it has 1080 lines, if you only physically have 768, how can it display them all without downscaling?? Only a panel with 1080 pixels (lines) can actually display 1080p natively.
The Panasonic is telling you what the signal type is has coming in when it reports '1080p', not what it is actually displaying pixel-wise - that is always 1360 x 768!
    LCDMAN.............Welcome to my world.

Depends on screen size and viewing distance. I wouldn't say that you'd notice the difference between 720p and 1080p on screen smaller than 32-37 inch at any viewing distance.Other than perhaps with your nose right up against it with a magnifying glass.heh

My Tv Is 1080p But Shows 720p Hd

The exact model is the Samsung UHDTV 6500. We noticed the picture was not displaying 4K resolution, and when checking the resolution from the menu, we discovered it was actually 1280x720 / 60p. We are using an AT&T U-verse cable box. Is there a specific HDMI cable we need to have the proper resolution displayed? We asked AT&T and they said this cable box (the same we used on the older 720p TV) should work just fine with the 4K television and display 4K resolution. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!
